To rent oneBODEY I need a knee walker because of surgury
The knee walker (Northrup) was invaluable during my recovery from bunion surgery. It was much safer and easier than crutches, and it allowed me to use my hands, carry things, bend down to pick something up, etc. Best of all was the customer service at Knee Walker Central. It was outstanding!
I recently had foot surgery and was told not to put weight on my foot for 6 to 8 weeks. I rented one of your knee walkers and I am very happy! It arrived in two days from the time I rented it online. So easy to click, pay, and have it delivered!! I read many reviews before renting and decided not to purchase a knee walker since the rentals seem much sturdier. This knee walker is easy to use. I love the basket because while on crutches I am always leaving my glasses or phone somewhere. Because of the large turning radiius, you will need to pick up the front end of the walker and move it over if you have a smaller house like I do, but it's no big deal. Using the walker, I've been able to cook my own meals which is impossible to do if you are standing on one foot in the kitchen with crutches! You also may need help putting it together as it comes in a huge box and requires some assembly. Back to work for me soon and I know this will be awesome as I walk more than 10,000 steps a day on my job. Thanks for a great product!
I am in my sixties and was wondering how to maneuver this walker. Due to arthritis and several surgeries (3 back surgeries, 3 shoulder surgeries, breast cancer), I cannot use crutches or a regular walker, no hopping around for me. I have reached 8 weeks of non-bearing weight on my left foot and I am amazed on how easy it was to use the device. This is truly the way to go if you are facing several weeks of non-bearing weight. I am facing another 4-6 weeks of partial weight bearing, so I will continue to use my walker. Customer service is amazing and they will accommodate nicely your needs. Thanks much Knee Walker Central.
I received my Northrop Knee Walker several hours ago and it has literally changed my life! I broke my fibula last week, and I was put in a NON weight bearing cast. I found crutches difficult and dangerous, so I have been using a walker to get around while hopping on the good foot! I put the Northrop Knee Walker together easily, and immediately began using it - it is truly fabulous and I can zip around without any problem, and I no longer have to hop!! (I wish that I could get two, one for upstairs and the other for downstairs, but cannot afford it) This Knee Walker is a MUST for anyone with a leg injury! Thank you all the folks at Knee Walker Central!
This is a great improvement over crutches but be careful. You can easily get too comfortable with the mobility. I am 6'4" and this makes this walker center of gravity fairly high. I have fallen twice given the high center of gravity and the very narrow rear axle. Once you start to fall over the direction of the injured leg, there is no stopping. It would be helpful if the rear axle could be widened, particularly on the outbound side where your injury is.
This device saved my life, instead of killing my shoulder with a dinosauric crutch I was strolling around like a happy biker. Thank you Knee Walker Central.
I rented the Northrup Knee Walker after I severely injured my foot in a car accident. I really like the way the makers of this product really thought of everything. I particularly enjoyed the waterproof cast cover, as it made it MUCH easier than I thought to take a shower. I’ve never been injured before this and am not used to equipment like this, but it was easy to assemble and use. It made my life much easier when my foot was recovering and I’ve been telling everyone about it!
This proved to be a nifty little device. It helped me more than I expected after my doctor recommended it to me. I like to spend a lot of time outdoors and this walker helped me do exactly that. The pad was comfortable and it’s incredibly easy to steer. My only real complaint is that I didn’t know about it when I was recovering from a broken ankle 5 years ago.
There’s some assembly required, but it’s a cinch. I was able to get around my house without any trouble or pain. I spent five weeks with my walker and there were days where I had almost forgotten that I was injured. It was a tremendous help with my recovery process and I can’t say enough about the extra little bells and whistles that came with it. This is an awesome knee walker that will hopefully make crutches obsolete!
I immediately ordered this walker after my doctor recommended it. I’ve never liked sitting inside for long periods of time and this knee walker let me get outside during my recovery. It took some time to get used to it though, as it seemed a little unstable on rougher services…but it’s a walker, so to expect much more would have been crazy.
I broke my ankle in 3 places in high school and then aggravated it again on the job when I was 39. I’ve been on crutches before and can tell you that it’s terrible. So when I messed reinjured my ankle again at the age of 61, I knew I wanted something other than crutches after the surgery. I did some research before my surgery and between my doctor’s recommendation and the online reviews I was sold. Of course, the hype turned out to be real. The Northrup Knee Walker was a great alternative to crutches for me. While I’m not very experienced with walkers, I find it hard to believe there is anything better out there.
I was so comfortable with this knee walker that after a few weeks of using it, I was able to go out with the family to movies and out to eat. Most of the time, I almost forgot that I was rehabbing my foot. An awesomely comfortable walker that I’d recommend to anyone.
Affordable, easy to maneuver, and an all around solid knee walker. I couldn’t have asked for more while I was out of work and recovering from home.
A solid knee walker that delivers it’s promise. Way better than crutches!
A great knee walker for the price. Easy assembly, easy to move around, and one of the most mobile walkers around due to its ability to collapse. Anyone that’s going to be off of their feet for an extended period of time needs to check it out.
Great for indoors and for my doctors visits too. I’m very glad my doctor recommended this to me. It helped me recover quickly and without any trouble.
When I blew out my right ankle for the second time at the age of 51, I was miserable. Not another several weeks on crutches! I was not looking forward to being unable to leave the house except for PT appointments! But luckily, my doctor helped me avoid that by recommending this incredible knee walker. I was able to keep my ankle and foot protected and safe while also moving around the house. The comfort was amazing and the extras I got….like knee pad cover and the toe warmer were really helpful. LOVE my Northrup Knee Walker.
I’m 66 years old and the thought of using crutches after I injured my ankle scared me a bit. So I looked around and saw that this knee walker had some great reviews. I ordered it and after putting it together, was very pleased with it. The comfort was very nice and I was able to steer it around the house without any problem.
I ordered the Northrup Knee Walker at the suggestion of my doctor and it’s the best advice I ever took. This thing was a life-saver as I mended up from my ankle fussion surgery.
Overall I had a great experience with my knee walker. I was a little disappointed that there was a bit of assembly required but it was simple to put together, even with a bum foot! After that, it was smooth sailing.
The Northrup knee walker helped me heal faster than the doctors expected. Not only that, it also made sure I wasn’t stuck in bed or on crutches. I was able to move around and even go out to the supermarket and a few shops. I did have an issue with my foot striking the rear wheel on occasion but once I realized it had an offset knee pad, that became an non-issue.. GREAT walker.
Great way to avoid being stuck glued to crutches! The cast cover I got came in very handy and the unit was easier to collapse and take around than I would have thought. I’m very glad my Dr. recommended this to me!
When I had surgery on my ankle, the idea of being cooped up in the house while I recuperated did not sit well with me. Enter the Northrup Knee Walker. With this awesome product I was able to not only move around the house with ease, but I was able to get outside, too. As I started recovering bit by bit, I started going to place like the grocery store and even to a ball game. This walker is easy to use, easy to move around, and super comfortable. I would definitely recommend it to someone else.
I found the Northrup knee walker to be very comfortable and easy to use. Super simple to steer and maneuver. The little basket it came with was quite handy. The only thing I didn’t like about it was all the questions I got when making doctor’s visits!
This is a simple, no-nonsense knee walker that made my recovery from foot and ankle surgery as painless as possible. Super comfortable and easy to use! Great product!
Even before I had my Achilles rupture, I saw the knee walker in use: my cousin (who had an injured foot last year), and one of the trainers at my gym had each rented one to help recover from injuries. Within two days of using it, I could see why they hyped it up so much. Seriously… my recovery was made SO easy thanks to this amazing knee walker. I would highly recommend it to anyone that’s going to be laid up or on crutches for a while. Plus, it will get you a lot of attention!
This was a good knee walker but I thought the controls were a little too loose. I know having complete control over the steering is important but I think this product went a little overboard. The turn radius was a bit too wide for my liking, but I’ll take this over crutches any day. It was comfortable and did the job, but I never quite got used to the steering. Still a decent product for the price.
The only thing better than the comfort and easy accessibility of this knee walker is the customer service I received. They were helpful in helping me pick the right model for me, and when I called to ask a question about the setup, the person I spoke with was so informed and friendly. Glad that my doctor recommended this company.
I had never used any sort of knee walker before this one and it was a great experience. The comfort level was great, and I was able to still make it around my house without feeling like I was helpless or unable to do anything for myself. Recommended!
When my Northrup Knee Walker showed up and I found out that I had to assemble it myself, I was very upset. But then I found that it was easy to put together and it’s also very easy to fold down and collapse so you can take it with you when you have to travel. It turned out to be a great knee walker. If I had to point out one flaw it would be that it didn’t feel particularly sturdy when I used it outside… I was very pleased that I found this awesome alternative to crutches or a wheelchair.
Thins knee walker me off of crutches while I was recovering and let me get around the house. My only complaint is the knee pad; it’s offset to help keep my good leg away from the wheels, but I didn’t know about it for a week… I kept hitting my foot against the rear wheel, but found out about the easy fix when I called Knee Walker Central’s customer service team to complain. They apparently included something about this in the instructional packed I received, but I think it should have been more prominent. Aside from that I had a good experience with the Northrup.
Yes, the knee walker itself is a good product. It’s relatively comfortable and was easy to take with me to doctors visits and the super market. But for me, it was the stuff behind the scenes… I got my knee walker delivered to my door the day after I ordered it, so the wait was minimal. Also, the customer service department was outstanding (I called them because I thought there was an issue with the knee pad which turns out to be purposely offset for functionality). I found that the Northrup had comfortable pads and was easy assemble. Thankfully I’ve never had to use another knee walker before, so I have no frame of comparison, but this product and the customer service seem to have it together.
I was relieved when my doctor suggested a knee walker instead of crutches. This is the knee walker he recommended and I am so glad he did. From the easy assembly to the ability to collapse it when needed, and the add ons like the cast cover, this made the recovery process a bit more enjoyable. I was amazed that something could be so rigid and safe but also so comfortable at the same time. GREAT product that I would HIGHLY recommend.
I don’t have anything to compare this walker to, but this thing was awesome. Easy to put together and I could easily take it with me when my wife had to drive me places like work, the doctor and so on. Very comfortable and easy to steer.
If you want something other than crutches after surgery or getting injured, this is perfect. Comfortable and easy to put into your car if you need to go somewhere.
This is totally preferable to navigating around on crutches. A nice little product with a modern touch. Comfortable, convenient and when I called with a question the representative I spoke with was very helpful.
I’m 58 and, according to my children, stuck in my ways. That’s why I was perfectly happy with my crutches after I had surgery on my foot. But then my kids sprung and got me this knee walker. I didn’t want to use it…it looked small, complicated and made of nothing. But I tried it just to make them happy. It was great but had its issues. The brakes were way too tight and the turn radius seemed a little wide. It really wasn’t so bad…just it took some getting used to.
I can’t imagine my recovery going as well without my knee walker. Comfortable, durable, easy to use and, above all, fun to ride around. Oh, and two words: toe warmer.
I only picked out the Northrup Knee Walker because of the reviews I was seeing for it. Also, I didn’t want to subject myself to being on crutches for six weeks. I wasn’t really expecting much but I ended up REALLY liking this walker. I was able to take it with me without any trouble because it’s easy to collapse it and move it around (this was very helpful for a 300 mile road trip I had to take during recovery). I’m all healed up and ready to live life again. But my walker is still in use…my brother-in-law had some pretty heavy repairs to his ankle a few weeks ago and he’s using it now…and he’s also blown away by how amazing it is.
I honestly thought that this thing was going to fall apart after I put it together. It was so easy to assemble and collapsed so easily that I thought it would just break. But it’s really sturdy and helped me move around the house and even around then back yard as my ankle got a bit better. I would highly recommend the Northrup Knee Walker to anyone.
Very happy with this knee walker. It was less expensive that buying a new one, and the team at Knee Walker Central was friendly and helpful. Far exceeded my expectations!
This was a great knee walker. The brakes seemed a little tight to me…felt like I was being thrown a bit at first. But then after I got used to it, it wasn’t so bad. I’ll take it over crutches any day.
Easy to assemble. Easy to use. MUCH more comfortable that stinking crutches…and a heck of a lot more useful and convenient. Don’t even THINK about crutches if you’ve been injured or just had surgery. This knee walker is the real deal.
With a toddler and a four year old at home, I knew that crutches would be a nightmare after I had surgery on my foot. So after checking out some alternatives with my Dr. and Physical Therapy guys, we decided on the Northrup Walker. I think I can easily say that without this walker, my rehab would have been miserable. It let me get around my house with ease, even in the places where the kids leave toys and everything else. The little basket on it was a godsend and the cushion was just as comfortable as the one in my recliner. The brakes are better than the ones on my car and the handling is so smooth it’s crazy. SO glad I got this knee walker! An amazing product that anyone looking for a crutch alternative should look into!
I was very pleased with this knee walker. It made it simple to move around the house and even get out to the movies on two occasions. The only reason I’d say it’s not perfect is because the knee pad would get sort of misaligned at the slightest little nudge. It was annoying but easily fixed, as I apparently didn’t read the instructions closely. It’s an offset knee pad that I was able to adjust in a snap. All in all a great product that made my recovery much easier.
Great product. Sure beats the inconvenience of crutches. I had no idea that being laid up for a few weeks could be so easy….with the help of the Northrup Knee Walker, of course!
When I tore my Achilles tendon out a few months back, I knew I was in for a long recovery…even the doctors said so. I had surgery, recovered a bit in the hospital and then was sent home. I was expecting to have to mope around on crutches for weeks on end, but was pleasantly surprised with the doc suggested this knee walker. This thing is awesome. It’s easy to put together…I had to do it myself WITH the bum foot and it was still pretty easy. The pads are nice and soft and it’s easy to take anywhere with you because it’s so easy to collapse it. This thing saved some headache and troubles as I recovered and I can’t recommend it enough.
After using the Northrup Knee Walker for a month during the worst part of my recovery (surgery on my ankle after an unfortunate skiing accident), I have only one question: Why is this thing not more popular? More comfortable and convenient than crutches and much more accessible. This knee walker saved me some major pains as I tried to get used to getting around my house again after the accident. HIGHLY recommended!
Surgery on my foot had me hobbling around for a number of weeks. As an athlete, I thought I'd be fine on crutches. Fast forward just a couple of days, I was miserable. My palms were bruised and my armpits were rubbed raw. Enter Knee Walker. What a difference!! Not only was it pain free it was also made me faster than when I could walk! And, it's super fun. I almost hate to send it back!
The last thing I wanted after rupturing my achiles tendon was to stumbled around on crutches and not be able to move around. So I was obviously relieved when one of the trainers at my physical therapy recommended this knee walker. This thing is easy to get around on and just plain cool. It’s generally not fun to be laid up, but the knee walker is making me feel like a kid again.
While I can’t really compare this knee walker to anything else, I WILL say that it was much more comfortable and easy to maneuver than I had been expecting. Affordable, easy to out together and great comfort and support.
I tore my Achilles tendon and had surgery to repair it. Of course, no weight on the foot and I was sentenced to crutches. I was mentally and emotionally devastated by how limiting the crutches were around the house and office. Plus my heavy frame didn't make crutches any easier. I took to the internet and discovered this alternative. Wow, wow, wow! Thanks for helping me get my mobility back while I recover and lifting my spirits. I can be helpful at home and productive at work. And it's durable too. I accidentally sent my knee walker down a small set of stairs with no damage. This great product got me back on my feet while complying with the no weight directive.
I recently had ankle fusion - no weight on ankle for six weeks. A regular walker was ridiculous, the Northrup Kneewalker was a godsend. It was easy to navigate, predictably stable, flexible to turn and it didnt leave my side. Not only that, but every phonecall with the company was courteous and helpful and so was the return when I no longer needed the kneewalker. I cannot say enough good things about this company and product. They made it easy and pleasant to order, have and return and the kneewalker itself is a fabulous product.
When I slipped on icy steps and had surgery to repair broken foot bones, my surgeons's office handed me a brochure for the Knee Walker. I was a bit skeptical that this would work for me because I had a knee joint replacemeent and did not know if I would be comfortable bearing weight on that knee. But I was determined to get back to work ASAP, so ordered the Northrup model with extra padding. I did not have a problem with the knee replacement at all. Though I did not find it useful at home - small house, many levels, etc. it made me completely independent at work, around the office and out on the university campus -- we have very large buildings! I am 61, had no issues at all with using the knee walker, and the light weight made it easy to maneuver in and out of the car trunk. I absolutely could not have been up to capacity at work without the knee walker, but with it, I was up to speed. And it was fun, too. Kids loved it, strangers wanted to hear about it. I got a lot of smiles and commendations from people watching me wheel around. Though I had to suffer the nickname "Scooter" among my co-workers! I most heartily recommend the Knee Walker and this company!
After getting surgery on my foot, I was instructed to stay off of my foot for two months. After a week of being on crutches, I’d had enough. It was terrible. I got sore spots under my arms and kept having moments where I nearly fell. So I put my crutches aside and started looking at knee walkers. I did my research and then went online shopping. I decided on the Norhtrup Knee Walker because of the reviews I had seen and the recommendation someone at my doctor’s office gave me. I was impressed right away because it was very easy to put together AND it was really solid. This was surprising, as it is a lightweight walker but it’s still a really well built walker. This walker is really great for tight spaces, so if you’re grocery shopping, it’s no more difficult than pushing a cart through a crowded aisle. And the steering is awesome. Tight turns are much easier than I would have thought and the braking system was reliable and safe. All in all, from the design right down to the super comfy cushion, this walker far exceeded all of my expectations.
I thought a walker would leave me whining for help from my husband for ten weeks after my surgery…and I think he was afraid of this, too. As a stay at home mom, I did have to hire some part time help with the kids but my Free Spirit walker was so comfortable and easy to use that I was still able to help with dinner, do the laundry, and even run errands. That was the real selling point for me. It’s easily collapsible and allowed me to get out of the house whenever I wanted. It was also a huge help for getting into the shower and staying involved with the kids when they did their homework. I didn’t have a single problem with my walker and would recommend it to anyone that has been ordered by their doc to stay off their feet.
After I broke my ankle in a backyard football accident that my kids still won’t let me forget, I got a walker. In fact, I got the Northrup Knee Walker and it is such a sweet looking walker that my kids (9 and 13) thought it was awesome. Even at work, some of my co-workers were impressed. Looks and attention aside, it was super comfortable and easy to steer. It was also insanely easy to assemble. If I had to choose one thing to complain about, it’s the fact that I was sort of wierded out about the walker having just one brake for both wheels, but that’s me just being nit-picky
I doubt that anyone actually ever WANTS to have to use a walker…I know I sure didn’t. But if you have to, you probably aren’t going to find anything better than the Northrup Knee Walker. Putting it together was simple… and this is coming from someone that usually has trouble with assembling things. The knee pad cushion was really comfortable, making it easy to get used to the walker. And with the great steering and light weight, I was able to get around the house with no problem. So if you HAVE to use a walker, I highly recommend this one!
This is a FANTASTIC alternative to using horrid crutches and big clunky wheelchairs. I was determined to find SOMETHING different after I had my foot surgery (my SECOND ONE…Ugggh!) and man did I ever find it in the Northrup knee walker. It was light, easy to maintain and put together and, best of all, COMPFRTABLE.I didn’t have to cut anything out of my life while I was off of my feet during recovery and I have this great little walker to thank!!!
I was very pleased with my Northrup Knee Walker. The only complaint I had turned out to be stupid human error on my part when I didn’t realize that the knee pad had been offset, making my good foot keep hitting the rear wheel. But one call to customer service straightened this out (and what a pleasant customer service they have!). And speaking of that knee pad, it was incredibly comfortable. I never felt uncomfortable or irritated when I was using this walker. I got around the house (and even the grocery store and the mall) incredibly easy and without any hassle. So while I did stay off of my feet per my doctor’s orders, this amazing walker made sure that I was still able to get out and enjoy myself.
I know the main thing about walkers is that they should be comfortable, and I totally agree with that. But my Northrup walker’s extras is really what sold it for me. This is such a great and versatile little walker and comes with bells and whistles I never would have dreamed of. I had my foot in a cast for most of the summer…yeah…a cast in summer. But the cast cooler on this walker was a life saver. I didn’t even know that sort of thing existed until I got this walker. On top of that, it WAS comfortable. It was also very lightweight, allowing me to still go on vacation with my family. Packing it and heading out was not a problem because it folds down so easy. I was so relieved to find how amazing this walker was. I had heard horror stories about wheelchairs and walkers, but the Northrup allowed me to go on vacation without really having to change our plans much at all.
There’s not much to say other than the Northrup Walker was a blessing for me after I had ankle surgery. My husband had to put it together for me but it didn’t take him any time at all. By the end of the first day, I was very comfortable with it. I especially loved the basket it came with. I do a lot of sewing and knitting and that basket came in handy! It was even really easy to fold down and carry with us, making those trips back to the doctor very easy. Not once was I ever uncomfortable while using it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice comfortable walker for a reasonable price.
As someone always on the go and playing sports, the idea of staying off of my feet really bothered me. But after messing up my foot while playing rugby, I had to get surgery and of course, had to stay off of my foot. For me, crutches weren’t even an option. So I looked around for walkers within my price range and settled on the Northrup Knee Walker. I put it together with no problem but was really just unimpressed with it. It was very light…and I know some people might see that as a big plus, but to me, I always felt like I was a few inches away from falling over. I did get used to it after a while, but by then my time to stay off of my feet was over. Oh, and the brakes were a little TOO sensitive. I think that maybe for people looking to avoid wheelchairs and crutches, it’s an okay choice but it just wasn’t for me.
Let’s get the important stuff out of the way first. The steering on this walker is just awesome. It didn’t even feel like I was really on a walker. The ergonomic pad was great too because it didn’t wear out my knee. And really, it’s just a cool looking walker. It was a snap to put together and for the entire 8 weeks I was using after my surgery, I didn’t have a single issue…other than toppling it over one time because I got carried away when showing my wife how awesome the steering is…but that was user error!
I’m sure my review will be a little different than others. See, while the Northrup Knee Walker was great, I was actually more impressed with the help I received from Knee Walker Central. I was uncertain as to how long I’d need my walker and they walked me through (pun intended, ha!) their rent to own policy, which I recommend. More than that, they helped me with an issue where my foot kept hitting the rear tire. The customer service was outstanding. The walker itself was great, too. Comfortable and easy to steer. I honestly didn’t know they made them like this! I was so pleased!
The Northrup Knee Walker is incredible! It’s the perfect solution for those that don’t want to use uncomfortable crutches or large bulky wheelchairs. There’s no learning curve for this walker; the steering and brakes are spot on and the cushion is very comfortable. I was making my way around the house in no time! I was even able to go for short walks around my neighborhood without getting uncomfortable. The fact this it is so easy to fold up and take with you is great, too. There’s no hassle at all. I was able to visit family three hours away without having to alter our plans. It was SO convenient. Really didn’t know there was anything like this out there and was s glad to find it after my foot surgery. I very highly recommend this to anyone that needs to keep off their feet.
This is a great walker that is comfortable and easy to steer. I really didn’t want to have to use one but after y foot surgery, the Dr. told me that I had to…either that or crutches. But this walker was so great and easy to get used to. I like the small stuff like the basket and how easy it was to bathe and take showers with it. I’ll be sad to see it go when my foot is all healed up!
Maybe it’s just me but I really wasn’t expecting my walker to come in a box not already assembled. The assembly was easy enough, but c’mon now! This walker was just not what I was expecting. It was okay to get around the house in but whenever I took it out in the yard, it seemed to struggle a bit. The cushion was extremely comfortable though, so I can’t be but so upset, I guess. Overall, a very so-so-walker.
After I had surgery on my foot, I was sure that I’d have to alter my lifestyle. As a 41 year old mother of 2, mobility is nothing to sneeze at. But my doctor told me about Knee Walker Central, a company with products that were supposed to make life so much easier after knee surgery. He was right! Not only is my knee walker simple to put together and super stable, but it’s also easy to take from place to place. Even moving around the house is easier than I thought. Plus, my 10 year old son thinks it’s cool looking and that’s a big plus!
Honestly, who WANTS to use walker? Yeah, they’re better than crutches, but still. Last winter I tore my Achilles tendon, and my surgeon recommended a knee walker. I selected the Northrup Knee Walker because it seemed to be the most user friendly. I wasn’t disappointed. From the easy assembly, fast delivery and amazing customer service from Knee Walker Central, I had a great experience with this product. So, if you HAVE to get walker for whatever reason, I recommend this one. The basket and the toe warmer (YES, A TOE WARMER!) proved to be priceless as well.
This is a nifty little knee walker. It helped me more than I would have ever dreamed after my doctor recommended it to me. I like to spend a lot of time outdoors and this walker helped me do exactly that. The pad was comfortable and it’s incredibly easy to steer. My only real complaint is that when I was outside, it felt sort of shaky and borderline scary when the terrain got tough, although according to the instructions, I shouldn’t have been using it on surfaces like that anyway. Still, if you’re not looking to be outside for a long time while non-weight bearing, I think it’s a great knee walker. It’s certainly comfortable and easy to use.
This nifty little walker made my recovery after ankle surgery so easy! I freaked out when it came in a box but it was quite easy to assemble. The steering was great and I enjoyed the fact that it was easy to take around. It’s lightweight and very easy to collapse and store in a car. This thing is even great outdoors on sidewalks and in stores. There were a few times while using the Northrup Walker that I nearly forgot that I was even using a walker. I was very pleased with this rental.
I got this knee walker after I severely injured my foot in a car accident. I really like the way the makers of this product really thought of everything. I also love the waterproof cast cover, as it made it MUCH easier than I thought to take a shower. I’ve never been injured before this and am not used to equipment like this, but it was easy to assemble and use. It made my life much easier when my foot was recovering and I’ve been telling everyone about it!
I was pleasantly surprised on a daily basis with my Northrup Knee Walker. From the day it arrived, I was pleased. It took only two days to get to me after I ordered it from Knee Walker Central and was easy to assemble… even by someone like me, who can’t put those cheap bookshelves together. It was easy to go out and about, too. I was so comfortable on it that I was going to the movies, the park, the bookstore and the craft store within a week or so. It’s so comfortable and sturdy and I can’t recommend the Northrup Knee Walker enough!
I love my Northrup Knee Walker! I have no idea how I would have made it after my ankle surgery without it. It was very easy to get around the house and it was easy to take around during the Holidays. From putting it together to getting from place to place, you’re not going to find a better walker. Now, I was nervous about having just one brake handle, but it wound up working great since it engaged both back wheels.
After my doctor told me I was going to be on crutches for a few weeks, I asked him right away if there were any alternatives. I messed up my left knee while playing with my kids and already felt clumsy as I didn’t want to be falling around the house on crutches. He told me about this Northrup Knee Walker and how it was supposed to be among the best on the market. So I got one and while I wasn’t blown away by any means, it was CERTAINLY better than crutches. As simple as it might sound, I loved the basket. It made it much easier to get around the house to help the kids with homework. I just kept the essentials in the basket so they were always with me rather than having to go all over the house. The brakes could have been much better but I got used to them after a while. All in all, a pretty good walker and MUCH better than crutches!
I guess this was a decent walker, although I don’t really have much to compare it to. The pad itself was comfortable and it was easy to put together and collapse down when I needed to travel. Every now and then my good foot would hit the back wheel but that was really just my own fault because I didn't know the knee pad was offset. Tight brakes and an easy set up, too.
This beast is like the Cadillac of knee walkers. No joke, it’s massive, sturdy, and is a pretty sweet ride. Moves like buttah, is easy on the wallet, and made me look like a king among men. Seriously, it’s a conversation starter. I’d give it more than five stars if I could.
The Free Spirit Knee Walker is one of the less expensive knee walkers to rent, so I decided to go for it after learning I would need to undergo surgery for my Achilles tendon and be non-weight bearing for several weeks. I was depressed when I learned about my injury, but then I realized that I would actually be able to move again thanks to my knee walker. One of the biggest advantages to this knee walker is that it has a lightweight aluminum frame. This is significant if you have to go from your home to your car to the office, as you don’t want to lug a massive knee walker around with you. The only complaint I had about the Free Spirit knee walker is that the knee pad gets uncomfortable after a few hours of supporting your weight. I ended up going back to the Knee Walker Central site and purchasing a soft cover. It’s like the difference between night and day, so make sure you get yours if you decide to rent this particular model. Otherwise, excellent lightweight product. Fast shipping and good customer service too.
I rented the Northrup Knee Walker for about two months when I was recovering from a soccer injury. One of the biggest advantages to this knee walker is that it feels pretty solid. I’ve used crutches before, and I always felt like I was one strong breeze away from tipping over. This knee walker made me feel safe and secure, which made my boyfriend feel much more confident in letting me walk around without assistance.
I never thought I’d say “independent living” before I was eighty. But hey. I gave the Northrup Knee Walker five out of five stars for one simple reason: it let me move through my house and office without feeling like I needed to ask for assistance all the time. One of the most annoying things about recovering from an ankle surgery is having to make plans to have someone help you all the time. This isn’t the first time I’ve had foot/ankle problems, so I was anticipating having to move my mom into my house temporarily while I recovered. It was a revelation when I discovered I could easily use a knee walker without feeling like I was going to fall over. It also helped me get around my house, especially with regard to the stairs. You just have to fold up the knee walker if you want to take it anywhere. I’d recommend the Northup Knee Walker to anyone who is looking for more “independent living” while recovering from a foot or ankle surgery. It’s a lot easier to get around the house when you have a knee walker – trust me!
I’m currently recovering from surgery and I ordered the Northrup Knee Walker from Knee Walker Central about a week ago. I got my knee walker about 48 hours after ordering it, which was pretty awesome, considering I was afraid I’d have to suffer with crutches right after my surgery. So far, I’m pretty happy with my Northrup Knee Walker. The knee pad’s comfortable, and I’ve been able to get around my house without worrying about bumping into random objects. So far, so good. I’m taking it to the office next week, so I’ll be interested to see how that turns out.
I would say that I’m happy with my Northrup Knee Walker. I got it because it looked like a souped-up scooter, and I need a front-end basket for carrying stuff around. It’s fun to scoot around in, but it’s not so fun to pick up and carry around. My friends think I’m pretty cool for scooting around in it. They keep asking me for rides. Did I mention that I’m in college and we should have outgrown this by now?
I had my foot surgery back in December 2012, so not only was I dealing with the possibility of using crutches, but on black ice and snow as well. Living in the Boston-area during winter is definitely not conducive to mobility in the snow. Anyway, I got the surgery because I had an old injury back from when I used to run marathons, and I figured that it was time to get it under control again. Why I picked December, we have no idea. The first week after I got my foot surgery, I was terrified to move around the house. I’m pretty sure my husband thought he was under house arrest, because I would literally panic every time he left the house for more than an hour. Everything seemed like a massive trial. Even getting up to go to the bathroom was an ordeal. Seriously, you don’t know how much you take mobility for granted until it’s taken away from you. Not good. My husband finally convinced me to get a knee walker because I was treating my crutches like a pair of snakes. I decided to get the Northrup Knee Walker after reading the reviews because I wanted something sturdy and strong that would hold up to the winter conditions in Boston. The only thing that I would say is that it’s challenging to take it up the stairs with you. We have a two-story apartment unit, and my husband had to help me go up and down the stairs the first week I had my knee walker. But that wasn’t so much the knee walker as it was me, because I was afraid of losing my balance and not being able to catch myself while I was carrying the knee walker. Once I got a handle on it though, I was fine. I would recommend this knee walker to everyone and anyone, especially if you live in an area where the outdoor conditions might not be conducive toward crutches. Which is basically everywhere. Good buy, good customer service from Knee Walker Central, so five stars!
About two months ago, I had ankle surgery and was told to stay off of my foot for about twelve weeks. I’m a pretty active guy, so this was like a shot to the heart. I was worried about getting around my house, plus I didn’t want to be laid up on the couch for three months. I ended up renting the Northrup Knee Walker from Knee Walker Central after talking to my doctor. He told me that if I didn’t want to use crutches, I could purchase a knee walker. But I found that most knee walkers are pretty expensive to purchase and own, but not so much to rent. Plus my insurance company reimburses me for the rental fees of my knee walker, so it’s pretty much a win-win. I wanted one that was easy to turn, and it seemed that this was the best one out of all of them. I also wanted a knee walker that would let me go outside the house and just allow me to live my life. Like I said, I really prize myself on being active, so it was important to find a knee walker that would let me be as active as I wanted to be. I got my knee walker the day after I ordered it, which was great. It is really awesome for getting around tight spaces, which is crucial in a small apartment setting. Here are some tips I’ve learned so far from using my Northrup knee walker. Hope this helps you out: 1. Be careful when transitioning from a smooth surface to a rocky one. The Northrup knee walker is able to handle most surfaces, but it can still be a jarring experience. Go slowly while you’re getting used to it. 2. Lock your knee walker while you’re dismounting or getting on. You can do this by pushing the brake forward (away from you) instead of towards you. 3. Again, I didn’t have a problem picking up the knee walker, but I can see where other people would, especially older people. The knee walker is about twenty pounds to pick up, so keep that in mind when you’re picking it up for the first time. I’m on the fast-track to recovery, and if you’re reading this, you probably are just beginning. Do yourself a favor and get a knee walker as soon as possible because crutches don’t even come close to the mobility you’ll get with this bad boy.
Before I launch into what I didn’t like about the Northrup Knee Walker, let me just point out something really quickly: it’s a LOT better than crutches. But let’s be honest here: this isn’t going to work for you unless you’re willing to get up and move. I would probably recommend this knee walker the most to people who have bumpy surfaces (like carpets), or who need to go outside a lot. When you’re using the knee walker, you do have to keep track of the handles, as it can turn unexpectedly. It’s an overall good purchase, but I just want to break down the pros and cons for you. Pros NOT CRUTCHES!! It looks and moves like a scooter, so you can get to places relatively easily It folds up to the point where you can put it in your car. I have an SUV and didn’t experience a problem, but I can imagine this would work just as well for a small car or sedan. This is relatively lightweight so you can lift it to put it inside your car You can adjust the kneepad and handle bars for your height, so you don’t have to worry that it’s gonna be too short or tall for you. Unless you’re an NBA basketball player or a five-year-old, I guess. Cons After 2 months of use, the brakes had to be re-adjusted, which is inconvenient but understandable. The handlebars can suddenly turn if you’re going too fast and you don’t have a lot of control over what you’re doing. It’s pretty rare to get going to these speeds, unless you’re going downhill. Watch yourself. Overall, I definitely don’t regret getting this product. The rental price is reasonable and the Knee Walker Central customer service has been great.
I received my Northrup Knee Walker right before my Achilles tendon surgery, as a friend recommended to me that I wouldn’t want to be on crutches for very long. I got it within a day or two after ordering it from Knee Walker Central, and it came in a nice box. There were a few parts that I had to put together, but the directions were pretty straightforward and I found it easy enough to do on my own. I tried it out before going into surgery, and I found it pretty easy to move around. I’m writing this about five weeks after my surgery, and I don’t know what I would have done without my Northrup Knee Walker. Seriously, this thing was like gold. I wasn’t able to put any weight on my bad foot, and I have a sneaking suspicion that I would have lost my balance and ended up stepping on my foot if I had used crutches. The knee walker was great for in the home and office, but the place I used it the most was going from my car to my front door. Awesome. I do need to mention that you HAVE to pay attention to what you’re doing. It’s not a bike or a scooter, so you shouldn’t treat it that way. You’re going to feel slightly off balance at first, so definitely overcompensate as much as possible. Don’t go fast your first time using this. Take it easy on yourself, and get used to the feeling of the knee walker before you start going for your normal walking pace. I can’t say enough great things about this product. It was well worth the rental price, and I’ll be recommending Knee Walker Central to anyone who has the unfortunate experience of going through an Achilles tendon surgery.
The Northrup Knee Walker saved my bacon! This thing was pretty easy to maneuver around the house, which was good because I have two kids who didn’t even stop running around while I was recovering from ankle. My only issue is that the seat pad became a little uncomfortable after being on it for several hours in a row. Otherwise, I can’t say enough good things about the Northrup Knee Walker. It’s not too heavy to pick up, and it fit in the backseat of my car with space enough for my kids. It’s certainly served a purpose, and it’s been more enjoyable to use than crutches.
My husband broke his ankle and has a bad shoulder, so it would be pretty much impossible for him to use crutches. Decided that we would get a knee walker through Knee Walker Central, and we ended up going with the Northrup Knee Walker. Thanks to this handy device, my husband can move easily around the house and doesn’t have a hard time going up the stairs. It takes a little bit of adjustment to get the knee walker at the right height, but otherwise it’s fine. It’s a lot less strenuous than using crutches, which is the main reason why I recommend the Northrup Knee Walker.
This is the perfect option if you’re looking to avoid using crutches, like me. It’s probably a little bit on the heavy side to lift, especially if you’re a woman, but I got used to it after awhile. It’s one of the better choices on Knee Walker Central. I would definitely recommend the Northrup Knee Walker to anyone who has a foot or ankle injury and doesn’t want to use crutches.
This is a great knee walker, and it’s so easy to steer too. I looked pretty cool using it – in fact, my kids were pretty much begging me to take rides on it, as they thought it was so cool that Dad had his own scooter. Never thought breaking my ankle would earn me cool points with my kids, but there ya go!
This has made having a broken ankle so much easier! Only downside is that the wheels are kind of slim. So whenever I hit a crack in the sidewalk I can lose balance pretty easy. Thats the only complaint I have though. People love to ask me about it when Im out also - they think its cool so I feel less "helpless" and more "free".
So everyone talks about the knee walker as a way to improve your recovery experience (I broke my ankle in a fall – no more five-inch heels for me!), but it’s also a great way to keep your mental spirits up during recovery. It really does let you move around more than crutches would, and you don’t have to deal with the pain and hassle of a sore back. I’m able to get around the apartment and even go outside without worrying about losing my balance. Five stars all around.
Never was so happy in my life to say good-bye to crutches. My wife ordered me the Northrup knee walker after watching me suffer in agony with crutches (why yes, I am dramatic). I can get around the house now, and I even can move in the office without getting sympathy. Which, come to think of it, I miss.
If you’re considering renting the Northrup Knee Walker, just do it. I promise you that it’s going to be worth it, and you’ll never miss your crutches again. Seriously, this was the best decision ever. Knee Walker Central is super-fast with shipping too. Bonus points for great customer service.
I have a bad knee from an accident as a child, so I’m a bit biased with this review. I found the Northrup knee walker to be fine for mobility, but I had some trouble getting used to the knee pad after awhile. It can be a bit much to have all that pressure on the knee. I wound up buying a comfort cover which did help a lot.
Wish it was possible to give more stars for Northup Knee Walker model. Received it the day after I ordered it. Super easy to turn, and the knee pad is actually comfortable. Super sturdy.
Currently recovering from surgery and ordered this knee walker before my surgery. I could even use it to get out of the rehab center, instead of a wheelchair. Everyone’s been asking where I got it, so I’ve been recommending Knee Walker Central. I’m going back to work in a week or so, and I know that my knee walker will let me get around. Actually excited to show it off.
I got ankle surgery about three weeks ago, and I didn’t leave my house for the first week because I was terrified to use crutches. But my partner surprised me with the Northup knee walker, and it honestly was like opening the door and stepping out into the world again. We have pretty icy sidewalks from all the constant snow we’ve been getting in Boston, but I know I won’t fall or slip because this thing is as solid as a rock. Pretty surprisingly considering how slim it is. I would highly recommend the Northup knee walker to anyone who is looking for a high-quality knee walker that won’t disappoint in the face of the winter elements.
I rented the Northup knee walker because I was getting back issues from using crutches. I don’t have any back issues anymore, and I can move around more freely. Be careful not to go too fast, especially on a bumpy surface.
Not the slightest bit of exaggeration when I say that this knee walker is a LIFESAVER. I was SO afraid of hurting myself on crutches that I stayed in my house for a week straight. I was like the Quasimodo of my neighborhood. My mother-in-law recommended getting a knee walker. I looked at all models at Knee Walker Central, but this one is without a doubt the best. I hardly write reviews, but the Northup Knee Walker definitely deserves one!!
I broke my ankle after a recreational soccer game, and I needed a knee walker that would support my weight AND my lifestyle. I didn’t want to be stuck in the house for months on end, so knee walkers made more sense than crutches. The Northup Knee Walker offers a lot of stability and support. I’ve never once felt like I was going to fall over or lose my balance (can’t say the same thing for crutches).
Can’t say enough good things about the Northup Knee Walker. Easy to turn, sturdy, and easy to fold. Highly recommend!
This walker is an amazing mobility device for people to use if they’re suffering from foot or ankle problems. I had surgery on my ankle and was non-weight bearing for about three months. I rented the Northup knee walker from Knee Walker Central, and it made a huge difference in my range of movement. It’s a really wonderful product, and I highly recommend it to everyone.
So I don’t usually write reviews, but I just had to write about the Northup knee walker from Knee Walker Central. First of all, I can’t say enough good things about how quickly Knee Walker Central got this model to me. I actually ordered it the day before it arrived, and they even delivered it to my office. My coworkers and I had a very fun time throwing my crutches away, since I kept accidentally stepping on my non-weight bearing foot (result of ankle surgery). The Northup knee walker is easily foldable, which makes this a breeze to take in and out of my car. I admit I was worried about whether I would be able to handle it all myself, but the surprisingly small size of the knee walker made it easy to manage. This knee walker is REALLY easy to steer, and since it’s smaller than other models, you don’t have to give yourself a wide turning radius. It was ideal for my cubicle at work, which probably wouldn’t have suited other knee walkers. In short, the Northup knee walker model was the absolute best choice for me. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants one of the best knee walkers out there.
I had surgery on both my foot and ankle about a week ago, and used crutches for only two days before I decided to get a knee walker. My podiatrist enthusiastically recommended this model, so I opted to buy it through Knee Walker Central. I know I’m going to make good use of it over the next four months (yup, it was a REALLY bad injury). I’m so glad I got this knee walker because I could only imagine what my life would be like using crutches. One of the main advantages I really liked is that I could have my hands free, and a neat little handlebar basket came as a standard accessory. This made it easy for me to carry drinks, and I can imagine I’ll be able to grocery shop like a normal person once I get out of the house. This knee walker makes life so much easier, I highly recommend it.
I know “svelte” isn’t a word that’s applied to mobility devices, but the Northup Knee Walker fits the word perfectly. I picked this model on Knee Walker Central because it looked smaller than the other models, plus it came with it’s own handlebar basket. I’m so glad I opted for this model, because it really made life a lot better for me after my foot surgery. I could easily go through the narrow halls in my apartment entranceway, and it turned really well. The brakes are another key point. My house is at the top of a hill, so my driveway’s pretty steep. I never felt like I was going to roll to my death with this knee walker. The brakes are very strong, so no risk of unwanted movement. It’s 22 pounds so could be heavy to lift for some people, but if you can’t get to the gym, why not lift your knee walker?
When I got my Northup knee walker, I felt like I was Mel Gibson in Braveheart: freeedooommmmm! I was using crutches, but my back and shoulders were so sore that it was actually hard to sleep at night. I researched alternatives and this seemed like the best option. The Northup knee walker really fits all of my needs, as it’s easy to turn, leaves my hands-free when I’m stopped, and supports my weight than other models (I’m a big guy; 300+ lbs). It’s everything I could ever want. I don’t fear that I’ll fall down in the house. I can even sleep again at night because it completely takes the stress and pain away from my back. A great buy and well worth the price. Seriously, I would have paid for this even if my insurance company didn’t cover it. The rental payments make it affordable over the long-term, so definitely consider getting the Northup Knee Walker.
The Northup knee walker is well worth every penny. My husband had surgery on his foot and found it difficult to use crutches. He can go anywhere in the house with his knee walker, and can even go outside without worrying about bumpy surfaces or slipping. Very stable on carpet, hardwood, and sidewalk. Would rate it twenty stars if the option was available.
